Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I know, I know, a little late to wish Christmas blessings on everyone - but better late than never! This year the holidays have just flown by and barely a chance to catch my breath! I did luck out and get the whole Christmas week off to spend with my honey! It was nice playing 'stay at home mommy' for a while! We spent the weekend at the lake with my in laws. Fun times. My honey finally understood what presents were this year. What fun we had with the excitement of Santa leaving gifts for us to open! I got some lovely gifts from the relatives, and also enjoyed a night out at the movies. We saw "Marley and Me". Not as impressed with the movie as I was with the trailer! Cute, but wait for the DVD. BIG NEWS coming soon. I have so much to share, but want it to be a surprise. Will let you in on the secret next week. Big changes are a coming... Hope you had a Great Christmas, and a soon Happy New Year.

Happy Birthday to my Honey!

Today is a day to remember... Just three short years ago we were in South Dakota waiting for our birth mother to deliver. What a long day it was - I'm sure it was longer for her, but oh the wait... And it was so worth it! My beautiful baby boy. I can't believe it has been three years! Time sure flies by when you're having fun! It seems like yesterday we were in below zero temperatures driving to the hospital to meet him. (of course it was below zero yesterday here in Kansas! Hee Hee) Our wonderful birth mom, oh how I appreciate her everyday, and the decision she made to pick our family to raise her son. What a hard decision that must have been! I am forever grateful to her and the dream she fulfilled for my husband and I. Last night I snuck in his room and watched him sleep. He is so peaceful and beautiful. I cherish these moments and wish they will last forever. I don't want him to get bigger! I want him to stay little forever! Oh how I wish I could stay home and spend every minute of every day with him! Time is just moving by so fast and I don't want to miss a thing. He is getting to be the cutest little gentleman. Saying "Please" and "Thank You" at just the right times. Telling me he loves me and misses me as soon as I get home ~ just the perfect thing a momma wants to hear from her little honey! Happy Birthday my Dear Baby! I Love you so much!!

Happy Thanksgiving to me...

Well it started out as a normal Thanksgiving day. The usual sleeping in and being lazy for a few hours. This year it was my family's turn to have us over for Thanksgiving and I was planning on preparing green bean casserole and a new dish with carrots and cauliflower. I had just finished the green bean casserole and while it was in the oven I started the new dish. I had to cut the carrots and I thought it would look pretty if I cut them on the diagonal. Well I got out a big knife - not one that I normally use to chop veggies with - but thought what the heck let's have a little fun. It's Thanksgiving day, why not? Well - this is what happened... I sliced off the tip of my little finger!! Well havoc started in the household - my dear husband went into caregiver mode and took over! I was so proud of him! He was in the middle of giving little honey a bath and little honey had shampoo in his hair - but dear husband took it all in stride, he got me a chair to sit down in, he got me a towel to wrap my finger in and collect the blood. In less than 10 minutes they were both dressed and out the door to take me to the hospital, including the diaper bag, a change of clothes for me (since I was still in my p.j.'s!), part of my finger in an ice bag, and the green bean casserole from the oven! A quick drive to my parents house to drop off little honey and the casserole and we were off to get me fixed up. I do have one big testimony about the entire ordeal ~ NO PAIN! Thank you Jesus! As soon as it happened, my mind went into slow motion, and all I could think about was God can fix this. I immediately asked God to keep me from feeling any pain, I did not want to feel this! And I haven't! I won't go into all the details, but the piece of finger could not be saved. The only thing that hurt was 1. the Lidocaine shot the doctor shoved down my finger, 2. the Tetanus shot the doctor made me get in my arm (which is still sore by the way) and 3. my stomach when I have to change my bandages and I see the mess and blood, and then I feel nauseous! Otherwise NO PAIN in my finger!!! A part of me is gone now, and yes she will be missed, but life must go on... Well needless to say, we missed Thanksgiving dinner with my family, but the left overs were tasty. It wasn't quite the normal Thanksgiving, but we will never forget it. Oh and did I mention, Friday was my birthday. What a weekend to remember!!!

"Carry me" and "Hold me" DO NOT mean the same thing...

This morning I learned the difference between "carry me" and "hold me". I thought they were one and the same - just a different way to say it. But no momma - get it right! We were laying in bed - {daddy brought him in about 5:00 am when he went and checked on him}. Honey had just finished his sippy cup of strawberry milk and he turned to me and said "momma hold me". Well on most mornings he usually says "momma carry" and I lift him up on my chest and hold him like he is a baby until he falls back asleep - or my arm does, then I will lay him back on his pillow. So as usual, I reached over and tried to pick him up and he went hysterical! "NO Momma! You hold me!" Well needless to say, I was a little confused. I mean it was only 5:30 am, and my child is pulling away from our usual routine - what is going on? He rolled over and snuggled in next to me - almost like spooning - then he reached over and grabbed my arm and laid it over him - to "hold him". Now I get it! He patted my hand and rubbed my arm to let me know it was going to be all right. Then he drifted off to sleep. Now I get it.

My Honey....

It has already started...my honey is turning into a boy. Not mamma's little baby any more. A boy who doesn't want to have cutesy nicknames from momma, a boy who one day will turn away when I try to kiss him in public, a boy who will break his mommas heart one day when he leaves home on his own...a boy that will one day turn into a great man... and he's not even 3 yet!!! UGH!! What is a momma to do? We were driving home from Poppies house (my dad watches my son during the day when I work) I said "I Love you honey". He politely informed me that he is not my honey, my baby doll, or my sweetie - he then simply stated "I'm just A.J." Oh how they grow so fast...

She has a great blog you should check it out here. And she is also giving away a Basket of Indulgence, well actually 3 of them! Visit her blog and enter to win! all you have to do is post a comment about your favorite quick treat that you carry in your purse or diaper bag for those last minute emergencies when your out with your little ones. My honey's favorite treat is either Goldfish crackers or "bunny crackers"(the organic healthier version of Goldfish by 'Annies'). Halloween!!

Scary Spider!! Here is my little honey getting ready to trick or treat! He loved being a spider and saying that he was going to scare everybody. Daddy brought him up to work and he trick or treated around the office - and saw his friend, Anna. This was the other costume I sewed for Halloween. I think it turned out pretty cute - what do you think? Cute little friends - Hope you all had a fun and safe Halloween!

Costumes!!

Finally finished the Halloween costumes. One for my son and one for a friend's daughter. Wizard of OZ was involved again this year, but not with my son. As most of you know I am a huge fan and my son was the Scarecrow for his First Halloween, and a lollipop munchkin last year! He was so cute and he loved all of the attention. Last year - This year I was stumped (heehee) yet again as to what he should be. Between my head cold/sinus infection and being undecided on ideas I was ready to scrap Halloween this year - but per my dear hubby - "NO WAY! Even if we have to buy him a cheap costume from the store - He is dressing up!" So, no way am I gonna let my honey wear a last minute, nothing left on the rack store bought costume. I want to make his costumes as long as he will let me - because momma's designs won't be cool soon. I have to sew now while I still have some say in what he wears! I'm hoping it will be at least a few more years. So we decided on a little something and I threw it together last night. Hopefully it doesn't look too home made, dear hubby helped a little on the stuffing and wire hangers... You are just dying to know what I made aren't you??? Well all will have to wait until HALLOWEEN!!!! I will definitely have pictures!

My Cool Dude

Isn't he just the cutest honey ever? Looking so tough getting ready to ride with Daddy! It was so hard the first time I let him ride, I think he was only 18 months old! In fact the "first time" I didn't even know about it! Daddy took him on a ride and didn't even tell me! I was so scared. Of course they only drove around the cul-de-sac, but still, it was my baby. But I don't want anything to happen to my baby! But alas, all was fine. Now he rides all the time. He knows he has to put on jeans, his glasses and he has to wear his helmet or "bike hat" as he calls it. It still scares me, but Daddy says "It's good" and what's a momma to do but listen and just smile - all the while cringing at every turn and rev of the engine. Smile - as I find out last week they drove all the way to SONIC! SONIC...that is like 2 whole miles away! TWO MILES!!! OK I admit...I am scared to death that something will happen, all I can do is pray and remember that God is watching over my honey and He gave him to us for a reason and He will keep him safe!!! I've just got to have FAITH! Why, oh why were motorcycles invented???

Me - I love you! honey - I love you two! Me - I love you two three! honey - I love you two nine! (giggles after giggles from both of us...)
