baby gifts!

Guess what? my friend S. is having a baby!! I am so excited for her! She is due in a few months. So my women's group got together to give her a baby shower. Love the saying on the bag - If they could just stay little. SO TRUE!! This is what I made -

A burp cloth and onesie out of the cutest paisley print. Isn't the little whale adorable?? And here is another burp cloth with ribbon that says - It's a Boy! And finally these - What are they you ask?? Well little honey thought they were little funny party hats!! They do kind of look like little wizard hats....

But no - they perfect gift for little boys - Pee Pee Tee Pees!!! Aren't they the funniest little things ever!! My mom gave me the idea - she had found a tutorial on the web and made them for her neighbor. I thought I would give them a try. They are super easy to make and the laugh of the party!! I am thinking of putting these kinds of things on my etsy shop. What do you think??

Would you buy anything like this?

Dreaming...

Well today I am so tired! We have been playing hard outside everyday and working on my flower garden - or digging in the dirt as little honey says! I worked yesterday at the agency and then went on a long walk to my friend R's house. Little honey loves visiting her and her husband. I would like to say it is because the are the best but... it's because they have a cat! Not gonna lie. It's only because of the cat! (he does like them a little, too!) Except last night her husband was putting dirt in the yard and little honey was all over that. He loves to help, especially if it involves dirt!! Well this morning little honey had climbed into bed with us and wanted me to carry him. Well we did our usual routine and I was holding him in my arm with my head resting on his head. WAIT. Something is wrong. Little honey proceeds to tell me to stop dreaming on him. WHAT? I wasn't even asleep yet - how can I be dreaming?? What he finally explained to me is that I was breathing on him (although he didn't use the word breathing - he slowly exhaled in my face to show me what he meant!) Isn't that the cutest thing? I was dreaming on him. Well what is a momma to do but turn her head so as not to continue the dream...

Happy Mother's Day to me!

What a wonderful day to celebrate! The joys of mommyhood! Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations. Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night. Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep. Before I was a Mom, I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom. Before I was a Mom, I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy. Before I was a Mom, I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom . Author Unknown "Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs... since the payment is pure love." - Mildred B. Vermont I am so proud and honored to be called a Mommy! It is only because of our precious birth mom that I can have this title. Thank you A.! We appreciate you so much and what you have given us! You gave us the world! Before you were conceived I wanted you Before you were born I loved you Before you were here an hour I would die for you This is the miracle of life.- Maureen Hawkins Yesterday was technically the day to celebrate her - it is called Birth Mother's day. The day before Mother's Day so that they can get recognition. I am so glad someone thought of that! Being a mother has made my life complete.- Darcy Bussell The bible has a lot to say about mothers, but this is one thing from the bible that I long for - Her children arise up, and call her blessed.- Proverbs 31:28 What is more precious than that? I stand on this promise - He makes the barren woman to be a homemaker and a joyful mother of children. Praise the Lord! Psalm 113:9 (Amplified) Happy Mother's Day!!

what is it? a bird? a plane? no it's a BLIMP!!

Look what we saw outside our window today...

I know my camera doesn't have the best shots but the blimp went right by our house today. I think it was advertising insurance, but who cares! A BLIMP!!! How fun is that? I don't think I have ever seen one up close. My mom and I were talking about it last week. I can't remember why the subject of blimps came up?? Anyway, good 'ol mom called this morning to have me look outside my window, north east - and what do ya know, here comes a blimp straight for my neighborhood! It was really close. Maybe two streets over and we could even hear the engine as it flew overhead!

Thanks for calling Mom!! Well, needless to say little honey was SOOOO Excited!! Even though he is still a little under the weather, he just wanted to stay on the porch and watch it fly away into the distance. Until... he jumped out of my arms and started running frantically around the house looking for chimp. Chimp? What was he talking about? Then it finally hit me. We had checked out a book from the library last month about animals that rhymed with moving vehicles. He remembered one page from the book - Blimp Chimp! He was so upset when I told him we had taken the book back to the library. The whining started and I could not get him to calm down! So what does a good momma do? She got dressed as fast as she could and drove to the library (hoping it was open already) to check out said book.

Here is the most important page of the day -

But I really like pages Hog Frog and Tug Bug! Go check it out! it is a fun book!!

And I was able to find another book about blimps -

It is a little older reading, but he loved the photos and so did mommy! It explains what blimps are and the differences between blimps and hot air balloons! Even momma learned something new today! It also had a brief story about the famous zeppelin, The Hindenburg. Of course the pictures of the burning blimp are what he was most fascinated with! Not the fact it was the largest 'blimp' ever built or that so many lives were lost (or many people got hurt according to little honey). No it was the flames! Don't you just love it when life throws you a curve and you get to learn all about it??

What did you learn today?

our trip to the arboretum...

What a lovely Family day we had last Sunday! I love it when the flowers start to come out and the weather is cool and calm! Check out this neat artwork/windmill - It was called Copper Hopper Chopper! So FUN!! I just love enjoying nature with hubby and little honey! This is what he wanted to do there - He would have stayed there all day playing with the dump truck and back hoe if we would have let him! Such a cutie!! Do you have scheduled Family Days? What do you usually do? Let me know! I would love to have more ideas!

Little honey is sick...

Poor little honey has a fever and doesn't want to do anything but lay around. I don't blame him! When I feel sick - watch out! Grumpy Alert!! Even though we are only related by the heart and not by blood - little honey acts just like his mama! He wants to be held and wants lots of attention! Last night the fever started. He told me it was because he did too much stuff outside yesterday. He was "too busy messing around and now he is sick". Isn't that so cute!! We went for a walk, had a picnic on the patio, mowed the front yard, dug in the dirt, did some chalking on the patio and driveway, played on his slippy slide in the backyard, bounced on the neighbors trampoline and took a nap. I guess it was a long day! Well nothing got accomplished today or last night for that matter so a little behind on updates of what we did over the weekend and pictures. I will try and update on Friday - if he lets me!!
